BP2: Dynamic Duo(s)

Rizzle Kicks. Karmin. Lion Babe. What do these names have in common? They are names of musical duos. Honestly, they are the names of my favorite musical duos. I’ve taken a lot of inspiration from Rizzle Kicks, Karmin, and Lion Babe. I am biased, but I really wish there were way more duos in music.

In my top ten albums of all time, you’ll find ‘Stereo Typical’ by Rizzle Kicks. Stereo Typical released in 2011, but for me, it never gets old. I wish I owned a physical copy of the album. I love the album because it’s inspirational, honest, creative and cohesive. My top 3 from the album: Even On a Rainy Day, Stop With the Chatter, and Down With the Trumpets. You know, just in case you want to listen. Sadly, Rizzle Kicks has “disbanded.” They’ve gone on a “hiatus.” They haven’t released music together since 2016. The two members continue to make music, but now, it’s done individually.

The musical duo, Karmin is high on the list of my inspirations. Sadly, they have disbanded to go in a new directions. They were active 2012 - 2017. I followed them the whole time, so did Groovy G. Fun Fact: Groovy and I met Karmin back in 2014. We saw them twice before they disbanded. Those were 2 of the best concerts of my life. The raw talent that Karmin had was alarming. I’m sad that they didn’t achieve the success that they deserved. As I said, I followed them from their inception to their retirement. I really miss that duo. They went on a “hiatus” to pursue a new persona, AKA Qveen Herby. I doubt they’ll come back. RIP. Some of my favorite Karmin songs: Yesterday, I Want It All, and I’m Just Sayin’.

Out of the listed duos, Lion Babe is the only one that is still active. They definitely deserve way more success. Their debut album “Begin” is also on the list of my top ten albums. I love how their music is powerful, versatile, moving, and soulful. My favorite Lion Babe tracks: Where Do We Go, Treat Me Like Fire, and The Wave.

Okay, so that was a nice trip down memory lane. This blog post wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t list my overall favorite duo: Four2woFour. They are releasing their second album, ‘The Art of Four 2’ on Oct 24th. I was lucky enough to hear it early. It’s amazing. You don’t want to miss it. Here’s a few of my favorite Four2woFour tracks: Reap and Sow, Kick It, and No Lovin’.

Thanks for reading!

Until next time,
